The Chancellor's Plan to Improve Work Incentives for Families

England has eight different programs to try and help parents with the cost of childcare. At the moment, that's for three and four-year-olds in households where all adults are in work. But this is explicitly a policy designed to get more parents into work. This isn't as it were aimed at the welfare of children. The share of spending that we target on working families is going to roughly double from about 30% right now to more like 60% in 2027.
