After your time in Oxford you moved back to New Zealand but jumped from studying diabetes to studying rheumatoid arthritis and then onto gout. What was the impetus for that change in direction? Was there some kind of external force or was it all in your genes all alongIt was an external force I went I went back in in 1998 and one of the interesting things about genetics of autoimmune diseases is that the same genetic variant can confer risk to different autoimmune diseases.
