You've got to be inclusive, kind communicative with everybody, not just people you think are evaluating you. Model that behavior for everybody, and it will show some one else just said professionalism. If the patient, or the nurses on that floor, or your colleagues, or an attending who happens to walk by see you dressed like that, they are going to think you're not taking it seriously even if you are. And this also gets down to liability. Are you someone who can relied on? Do you need to fill out your case logs every week; don't have to chase them down and respond within a reasonable amount of time after being told so.
