A duterium atom is almost twice as heavy as a regular hydrogen atom. Because of that, d two o is about ten % heavier than an equal quantity of regular water. This results in some very interesting party trick potent. For example, regular ice always floats in water, but with duterium, if you make a heavy water ice cube, it will sink in water.
