Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
The Sacrament of Marriage Is a Special Case
The analysis of the sacraments into matter form recipient administer it's relatively recent and we apply those terms analogously for that matter even the church's clarification of what counts as a sacrament in the strict sense is only about a thousand years older. There may be better tools or better distinctions that could be made that would apply with more clarity to some of the sacrams than others marriage does seem to be a special case the Eucharist also is of course a unique case because we have a sacrifice and a sacrament We have the presence of Christ himself as well and not only the presence of grace so there is a lot of room for development.
