What's the Ideal of a Democracy?
A lot of the equality that we have right now happened pretty darn recently. It's like it wasn't until 1976 that women could get a credit card without the approval of their husband. These are movements that are new, that are uncomfortable for people who are accustomed to a certain traditional social order. This is not something that I'm sitting here in 2022 and saying, oh, that was not a democracy.
