Ethics vs Morality

When whenever a certain idea or value or experience gets codified, it risks becoming an idol because your energies are devoted to that rather than that which it's pointing to. I personally view ethics as odes of conduct that may or may not be moral, and morals as codes of conduct that are life affirmative. When i was a par trooper in the 80 second airborn division, i had about a 400 page manual that told me who to kill, who not to kill, and what to do if i captured them. And that's an ethics manual, but it's not moral whatsoever.
