Becker was at the French colonial headquarters for Cambodia, beautiful building on the river. For two hours Pol delivers a virtual monologue on why his country needs the US and NATO to join the fight against Vietnam. If they don't act soon, he says, Warsaw-packed troops will attack Cambodia. Becker: There's no question in my mind that it had to be approved by some top people in the government. Upstairs, another guest, a Scottish academic called Malcolm Caldwell, is not so lucky. He is shot dead. And that night we were attacked.
