How to Deal With the Population Density of the Internet of Things

I was raised by engineers, so my dad always told me about redundancy and how you back things up. The idea is to take so many backups that if two or three of them fail, I've still got some redundancy. We can't really do that in the same way with our Internet of Things and all that device and everything. So what do we do when the kettle's making noises, the dishwasher, the phone, the TV, that my wristwatch, my insulin pump, everything's singing to me and beeping at me? You choose the sound you want for each device. That would take me like half a year.
