Malaria

Sickle cell disease is a monogenic disease, caused by mutations in one gen. Same mutation has arisen multiple times in or evolution as a reaction to malaria pressure. Researchers at the i g i are going to try to take some of the cells out of the person's body and use crisper to correct that mutation. And then you grow them so you'd make more of them, and then you put them back into the person. If enough of those take then that person will start to experience fewer of those very negative symptoms associated with sickle cell disease.
