The Nonfiction Book Selling Process Is Easier Than the Writing Process

I was turned down by three or four agents before signing with my agent Steve Hanselman and then I was subsequently turned down by 27 publishers. Just because a book is rejected doesn't mean it's a good book certainly but ultimately for me I think the I given my past experiences and professional experience entrepreneurial experience before the nonfiction book selling process were easier to sell than in fiction. The writing was the hardest process for me and I was also accustomed to rejection which isn't something many people have inoculated themselves against whereas if you are in an external sales position you're getting rejected all the time so I didn't view that as a huge blow to my morale It was just part of racking up
