Is There a Religiosity in the Religious Right?
Roxanne Jones: The abortion part I was very familiar with, the white supremacy and racism part did not ring true to me at all because it wasn't part of my experience within that conservative culture. So can you talk about the abortion part and then maybe dovetail into how those converged into what we have now in the religious right?Jones: Jimmy Carter empowered the IRS to enforce non-profit laws or laws that forbid non-profits from discriminating on the basis of race. That was something that a lot, I believe it was Jerry Falwell who said that was what galvanized the religious right as they had formed so many private schools.
