Is the Liquidity Crisis Really a Crisis?
I think there's maybe two issues i was worried about, a, the international reserve positionin our liquidity position, and also about staff. Those last three days that we worked heavily on, even until the last day. I made some organizational changes so that i could push r and responsibilities a little bit lower in the hierarchy. And th those were my folcusareas the last few days. So, so still thinking medium tern right? My thought process was, well, if we continue to move forward, this liquidity crisis will cause an economic crisis, whichis iwas trying to avoid.
Ajmal Ahmady is the former Governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, Da Afghanistan Bank, and the latest guest on the Value Perspective. Juan and Emily had the opportunity to talk with Ajmal about the work he accomplished during his tenure including inflation stabilisation and digitised money wallet. They also discussed decision making as a central bank during times of crisis and conflict, including how the DAB made decisions as the Taliban encroached towards the capital.
