By the end of 2007, Amazon had done $14.8 billion worth of sales which was more sales than two of their early competitors combined Barnes and Noble with $5.4 billion and eBay with $7.7 billion. Rick Dalzell who was a senior manager of engineers decided that his time was up with Amazon and wanted to spend more time with family. He said Jeff does a couple of things better than anyone I've ever worked for. He embraces the truth. The second thing is that he is not tethered by conventional thinking. What is amazing to me is that he's bound only by the laws of physics. Everything else he views as open to discussion.
