The Difference Between Smartphone Use and Addiction
A study in Korea suggested that 20% of the general population overuse their smartphones. Is smartphone use an addiction? Because people talk about sugar addiction and other things that we could be addicted to where it could not be under the dictionary or the DSM definition in addiction. Anticipating your reward is more enjoyable or at least more motivating than actually receiving the reward. Patients, Professor Brown, patients, smartphone apps, give us dopamine reward or other neurotransmitters are available. It's flipping while already engineered into them. The apps are designed to attract and hold our attention. App engineers, employee techniques, they're just geeks which target the brakes, reward systems.
