The phrases do not make sense. And furthermore, they do not fit together into a syntactical sentence. So if you're trying to follow what that sentence is saying, don't worry. You didn't miss it. It's a good example of just nonsense. How could it be that some one who was derided in this way for his nonsensical, meandering mode of speech were so completely embraced into the language and are still very much imbedded in our language to day? Mankin himself explains why he thinks harding's prose is so bad. i think that it is helpful in understanding why he had such an impact on merican political talk.
