The Luhel Bond and the Hell Bond
There are a lot of things with midnight essence on Roshar that's interesting because apparently you can release midnight essence. What does that mean? I don't know. It is worth noting that when either Hoid or Ulam talks about the luhel bond. He says that it's oh yeah the the hell bond trades consciousness for for power essentially. The luhel Bond trades a physical substance for that essence for that material and in this case the substance is water which suggests that it's possible that it's not always water.
