The Misconception of Goal Tending and Basket Interference
Goal tending occurs when a player touches the ball during a try or tat for field goal while the ball is in its downward flight, entirely above the basket ring level. Goal tending does not occur when a player slaps the backboard intentionally. The resumption of play procedure is used to prevent delay between any quarter and end of game. It's a scenario that i've seen in a few games where coaches and players want that to be a gol tending but by rule, it does not count.
