You Can't Understand Jesus if You Do Not Understand Israel
Bishop Barron has a great line where he says, you cannot understand Jesus if you do not understand Israel. If we don't understand what he was doing in the Old Testament, we're not going to understand his mission at all, right? The whole drama, the Exodus is sort of the paradigm of salvation. That's why we go back to these texts every Lent,. We're coming through the new Exodus and we're heading to the new promised land. What sustains us there is the new man. So yeah, all these ways, and this is how the church has always read the Bible."
