Small Talk and Complexity
Actor style languages use the message passing model of concurrency. Erlang since 2006 has become more prominent as has elixir and even aka on the JVM. It's hard to know for sure but I think this paper is one of the reasons why it has become more mainstream to use actor style languages. There seems to be something about small talk that allowed for such a small piece of code, small amount of code to generate an entire operating system including the graphical user interface.
