Stalin's Purging and Supremacy

Stalin was motivated by the genuine presence of some number of people who are Western agents or capitalist sympathizers. Stalin has no way of knowing how many of them there are, whether they enjoy popular support or don't. The kind of political apparatus that exists existed in the Soviet Union just gives rise to paranoid behavior.
