The US Government's Doomsday Plan
In the 1950s, there was a real belief that the US might be hit by 50 or 60 atomic bombs. This would essentially be like 50 or 60 Hiroshima's happening around the country. Every aspect of the US government had, effectively, this secret shadow post-apocalypse version of itself. The National Park Service would run refugee camps because the belief was National Parkland would not be targeted by nuclear war. In one of these pre-printed postcards, almost like Manila folder size, they were known as POD Form 810.
