Ethics and Barriers in Research on Ethnic Minority Communities

This chapter discusses the importance of ethics in qualitative research, focusing on the participation of ethnic minority communities. It explores the complexities and challenges faced in ethics codes and guidelines and highlights the lack of concrete solutions to address the participation gap. The chapter also examines the influence of Western thinking on ethics codes and processes and the conflicts between institutional ethical principles and those experienced by communities in collaborative research.
