The word adub can simply mean education, but came to refer to a whole genre of writing in Arabic. Adub could also refer to an instructive anecdote or saying - hence the title of a collection ascribed to doctor Hunain ibn Ishak. A good story puts me in the mood for a good tune, so let's now have our next musical clip. Here we're looking ahead to the later centuries of Islam because this one comes from the Besmara ensemble, who perform early Ottoman music.
