But what is the point of having such road blocks that are often viewed by travellers to cause considerable inconvenience? In a brilliant new book, road block politics, the origins of violence in central africa, my guest mapped over ato sand road blocks in the democratic republic of congo, d r c and the central african republic. We also discussed how major multinational companies navigate through these numerous road blocks in africa, and by doing so, may end up bestowing legitimacy on rebelled groups.
