The girls are not wealthy, I don't think. But it is that funny classism where the girls are kind of middle-classy at best. The older they get, you know, the more weirdly inappropriate things become. She takes them off to the slums to examine the poor and walk past them. They take instruction from seeing lower classes by her standards.
