Can we really create abundance out of automation? Possible, but that really needs to be amazingly good automation. Even today, I don't see much evidence that Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and others are going out of their way to redistribute their wealth. The track record of our political systems to redistribute towards people who don't have an essential role politically and economically is not that great. And then third, there's a lot of evidence that people lose sense of purpose if they just become consumers rather than contributors to society.
