The History of Mycenae and Pottery
As settlements thinned out and population did drop, the pottery changed. It became simpler, produced by hand by local craftspeople for most regional consumption. The subjects depicted in images on pottery changed to be more oriented around violent warfare. New elites tried to grab power for themselves but people were less bound by higher political authorities than they had been before.
