The Importance of Intuition in the Pond

Singer's analogy is you're walking by a pond. Kid is drowning. You're wearing a very, very expensive suit. Everybody has the intuition that like you would ruin your suit to save the drowning kid in the pond. Right. And then the question is why isn't that situation just confronting us every day? Because for the money we paid for a suit, we could be saving a child's life, just like that child who's drowning. If there aren't kids drowning in ponds every second of the day around us,. Then maybe we wouldn't keep diving in all the time or we wouldn't feel as, it wouldn't seem as obvious if there was no problem at all.
