The Importance of Understanding Racism
A study found that Democratic presidential candidates adjusted their speech depending on the racial majority of the audience. When Democrats were addressing a mostly minority audience, they opted for low competence words instead of the high competence words typically used. Republicans addressed mostly minority audiences and mostly white audiences by using the same speech. There was no difference there.
