The Life and Times of John Milton
John Milton was born in 1608, the same year as Martin Luther's 95 theses. His father had been disinherited by his Catholic grandfather and became a self-made man. The Reformation began when King Henry VIII wanted to have his marriage annulled but Pope Clement refused.
