The Water War in Bolivia, Part Two

Water prices skyrocketed 35% after this plan was implemented and water became one fifth of the average Bolivian's expenses. People took to the streets and rose up in anger against this effort to commodify water, which even went so far as to criminalize rainwater collection. For months during the uprising, the Bolivian military fought civilians in the streets, arrested hundreds, and even shot and killed a 17 year old boy. Ultimately, the people won the war and expelled the US-based company, which had bought and privatized the country's water system.
