In the early days of botanica, had such a kind of imperialist sort of holier than anyone view on the world. But I think it just came from people's heads as well. So it's interesting because we obviously regard encyclopedias as the epitome of truth and fairness or at least that's how they were sold. Of course, closer reading now sort of exposes the opposite of that.
