There's always a part of me that I think about deserting back in those days. You had to carry your ID card in your breast pocket, because there was no formal personnel registry system. This is absolutely the air of time where you could just disappear as a person. And then 50 years from now, I'm doing an animated story of my family history, except it's mice. And it's going to be called an American tale.
