Do We Need to Build in Viscosity?

I'm a great believer that having knobs for viscosity is a good thing. The busy person who only checks their social media once a day has much less ability to influence the discourse than the person who posts 15 comments to a post. I've long been an advocate of saying that to do something with online content, such as to upvote it or downvote it or share it, is actually a morally consequential action. And if we could educate people that this should not just be 15 milliseconds at a knee jerk, but rather when you do this, ask yourself, does taking one of these actions really make sense?
