ACOC says there is insufficient evidence to guide clinical decision-making regarding routine pharmacological thromboprophylaxis during and after pregnancy. Both acquired and inherited thrombophilia's increased the risk of a VTE. Most agree that after for example, a C-section with a potential for slightly prolonged immobilization, at least sequential compression devices should be used.
