How OpenStreetMap Edits Data
There's a few different companies involved in adding data to OpenStreetMap. The data comes from a variety of places, including the public domain and aerial imagery. People run scripts and bots that take this data,. process it, figure out what's an OpenStreetMap already, what's not an OpenStreet Map. And then often, well, you can either import that into OpenStreetMap or also just make it available for volunteers to work with so they can pick through certain features.
