The ideal population should be between 300 to 350 million, which is almost one-fourth of where we are today. To come down to that level, you have to do it in a very gradual, slow, steady, calibrated, and intelligent manner. So, ideally, I would say this should happen over the next two centuries. By 2050, India's average age is going to be about 37 or 38. Ideally, you want it to be in the early 30s or even late 20s. That's how you want to be. You don't want everyone to be old."
