Exploring Gene Therapy for Infantile-Onset Pompe Disease

This chapter explores a study on four patients with infantile-onset Pompe disease who underwent gene therapy, revealing improvements in cardiac and motor functions for three of them. Despite the loss of one patient and some negative side effects, the findings suggest gene therapy could be a viable alternative to traditional treatments, emphasizing the need for further research on safety and efficacy.
