The Long-Term Growth of the NHS
Growth rate of the UK economy growth has been successively revised down. If we're going to increase productivity, I think there's two parts to this problem. One is to be very clear, a secular decline in relative productivity over the last 15 years is not something that can be reversed quickly. Once we accept that, then we have to adopt a different approach which is nurturing the economy over a longer period - five, ten or fifteen years. That then asks questions of our institutions, political commitment and the targets that we'll have to adopt"
