Robert Oppenheimer never became a truly great scientist. Some people say that's because he lacked Zitzwash, the German word for sitting flesh. The other view is that he was just unlucky because his work on black holes was Nobel-worthy. He really did have a kind of disordered identity and arrogance about needing to know everything.
