There is no federal waiting period required for purchasing a gun. Each state has the right to make their own rules on that. Ten states and the district of columbia have waiting periods, whereas most states do not. You can't have a bad day and then go by a gun; you got to wait at least until your bad day is over. Let's call it the no breakfast of champions law: You can't buy a gun on the same day as a sudden outbreak of syphilitic breakdown or something like that.
