DNS resolution was taking a lot of the time, so I looked for a tool which would allow me to compare and contrast various different DNS servers. Diag on GitHub is a pretty straightforward script. It does abstract away all of the fiddly writing of scripts and stuff for you. And it will come back with a very nice table showing you which is the fastest,. The slowest, where the slowdowns are, how many packets were dropped between you and that particular server.
