How to Set Up Multiple Web Servers
If you've got a lot of static files or images, sticking that out on some kind of CDN is trivial. The next easiest thing I would guess is to set up multiple web servers. My personal feeling is that the web server, if one takes away static requests away from theweb server, then now I believe you don't need a web server anymore.
