Refusing to Stigmatize Populations

Lerner: We must insist that no person represents an entire group, any group. No person should be held accountable for anyone but themselves. If we encounter unpleasant incidences or individuals from designated groups, we must resist the temptation to generalize from them to the entire group. The brain sometimes in the service of trying to help us stay safe, it actually doesn't do us any favors because we stigmatize an entire population of people based on one thing that happened one time with one person.
