"We counted our lucky stars every day, because we had gotten stuck in an area of the world that was affordable for us to get stuck in," she says. "There were a lot of countries that would have kicked us out, and it would have been financially very difficult for us... But instead, ganda and kenya both welcomed us, and we became part of the communities."
