Mr. President: I want to get two facts about socialism and go on from there. Upton Sinclair was a real socialist; he supported workers' co-ops. FDR, on the other hand, was a social Democrat, which meant that he still wanted the main part of the country to be run by the big capitalists. We really need to have an extensive conversation about what we mean by "socialism"
