Marriage is the only adult relationship where kids don't have to lose anything to be in the relationship. When you make husbands and wives optional, mothers and fathers become optional right away. Nobody has to tell those kids with two moms or two dads that they should have a mammor dad. Just like every other human child, it's what they want.
