The Role of Shame in Neurodiverse People
Shame is something that gets internalized over time by people's reactions to you. I'm of a generation where it really wasn't understood that some of these things actually impact you. My children, two of whom are in their 20s, they are growing up in a generation where they speak up for themselves and advocate. So they don't feel the same kind of shame that I think I grew up with. And I'm happy for them for that.
