The Trail of Tears

The trail of tears refers to a march undertaken by the chero nation in 18 38 and 18 39, when they were forced at gun point to move from georgia to oklahoma. Three thousands of descendants of those black slaves, known as freedmen, are still fighting to be recognized by the tribes that once owned their ancestors. The Cherokee Nation is the only one of the five civilized tribes that fully recognizes freedmen as full tribal citizens.
